Madrigals

Madrigals (Vocal Ensemble) is a small, advanced mixed ensemble that focuses on chamber and small ensemble music. It is an intensive class that requires dedication from its members and advanced musicianship skills. This class meets all three trimesters. There is a mandatory summer retreat. This class performs extensively especially during the holiday season. Students compete in region, state, and national competitions. Students in this choir are also expected to sing with Concert Choir in all performances and competitions. Madrigals is mainly made up of senior students, however anybody is invited to audition for this class. Auditions will be held March 22nd - 26th for the following year (additional information to come). Although Concert Choir and Dolci are not prerequisites for Madrigals, students who take these classes during their careers at Brighton are usually more prepare and ready to be members of Madrigals.

I Suoni Dolci (Soprano/Alto 2) is a small, advanced women's ensemble that focuses on great literature for women's voices. It is an intensive class that requires dedication from its members and advanced musicianship skills. This class meets all three trimesters. This class performs extensively, especially during the holiday season. Students compete in region, state, and national competitions. Dolci is made up of advanced singers from all grade levels. All experienced women singers are invited to audition for this class. Auditions will be held March 22nd - 26th for the following year.
I Suoni Dolci is Italian for "The Sweet Sound". It is pronounced [i suˈoni ˈdol.t͡ʃi]. What, you don't know IPA? Sounds like you need to take a choir class.
Concert Choir

Concert Choir (A Cappella) is Brighton High School's auditioned large choir and is open to students from all grades. This is a mixed ensemble that focuses on great literature written for large numbers. It is an intensive class that requires dedication from its members. Auditions will be held March 22nd - 26th. Concert Choir is offered all three trimesters. Students are encouraged to take the class all year, however participation during 2nd & 3rd trimesters is mandatory (during festival season). Students will participate in concerts, community performances and competitions multiple times a trimester. This choir is a great stepping stone for students who are interested in Brighton's advanced choirs (Dolci & Madrigals).

Mixed Chorus (Mixed Choir) is Brighton High School's non-auditioned choir. Students of all musical ability come together to foster a safe, inclusive community for learning musicianship and basic vocal skills. Students typically participate in two to three after school performances (choir concerts and national anthems) per trimester. Students with no prior choral experiences will find this a great class to start their choral career in high school. Intermediate to advanced students also take this class to foster, mentor, and lead their sections to success.
